Many folks don’t contemplate the reality that bacon 🥓 comes in many different varieties and styles around the world. No surprise, of course, that I DO — and perhaps you too, since you’re reading this lol. The most accessible example I can think of is Canadian bacon — which is very different than what’s top of mind when we hear the word bacon — which millions of Americans have now known about for decades thanks to McDonald’s original breakfast sandwich — and my once-upon-a-time fave: the Egg McMuffin. Even U.S.-based bacon styles have expanded beyond old-school pork-only options to include choices like turkey, duck, mushroom, other plant-based, and vegan versions of savory bacon slices, hunks, and such…
