Around this time last year, i fell into retro ‘Black Booze Ads’ rabbit hole !🕳 🐇
And discovered a boatload of 1970’s (& 60’s) Scotch ads from various global producers and brands all featuring Black American people/talent/models of that era …
“Scotch 101” Sidenote for all the non ‘booze nerds’ (no snark, no judgement, just FYI): Scotch is a spirits category or subcategory of sorts that applies exclusively to whiskies made in and from Scotland 🏴, whether blended or served up as single malts 🥃...
Of course there’s a whole lot more to the story of Scotland’s national libation; there’s also more to the (hers & his)story of Scotch ads and billboards featuring Black talent and/or targeting the Black Community, past and present... [BECOME A PAID TIER PATREON PATRON TO FIND OUT!]…
PS. While in this rabbit hole I also found out that much further along the timeline up to today, fellow (“African/American: Making The Nation’s Table” exhibition) @MOFAD Advisor @QuestLove is in collaboration with @balvenieus to bring the world his “Quest For Craft” series on @youtube ….fascinating how the fab Black folks + Scotch continuum carries on!
Happy (International) Scotch Day!
