May 4th National Candied Orange Peel (& Wheels!) Day …

• Hooray for National Candied Orange Peel Day ! …

A ‘holiday’ that any creative cocktail concoctionist can appreciate ….Ok admittedly mine are more like (or actually!) candied orange wheels but peels are involved too lol…

Above: a version of candied orange peels & wheels I made once upon a time — as you can see mine are more like candied citrus rings of mostly peel with some fruit….

Although candied citrus peels are mostly used by bakers, no surprise I made them my way to adorn a custom batch cocktail I created for a special family friend’s celebration and holiday toast…✨CHEERS!

HISTORY BITS:
FYI there’s a deep, foundational history of citrus here in the States. No surprise:
African Americans played pivotal roles as the original stewards of citrus groves throughout American South….
