But first, join me in a toast to this ages old roast: “You’re WELCOME, WORLD!” — on behalf of the ancient Eastern African ancestors, in present-day Ethiopia and Eritrea, who cultivated it and created the world’s very first coffee rituals. Still today, coffee grows almost exclusively in geographies populated predominantly by people of color — throughout Africa, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, parts of Central and South America, Hawaii and beyond.

And speaking of coffee crossing cultures and continents, Eléctrico Mezcal’s latest “Distilled With Coffee” expression brings Oaxacan coffee directly into the still with Espadín Joven agave — yielding notes of espresso crema, citrus, cacao, roasted agave and gentle spice. Coffee + mezcal? Now that’s a cultural convergence worth raising a glass to.
