URBAN OASIS
Turns out not ALL a my memories from 2020 were so bad. Especially since despite the challenges and dangers of one of my many roles then working as an “essential employee” at a dear friend’s amazing wine shop (indeed the NYC powers that be didn’t hesitate to declare wine as ESSENTIAL. And i can’t say I disagree, at all…) Anyway, that entire Summer I gloriously got to be a roof top garden caretaker for friends who “pandemicked” out of town.
It came with a the perks of harvesting fresh herbs and at least a little bit of fresh produce on the regular — and the biggest perk of all — hosting frequent fresh air open gatherings whipping up delicious dishes to share with wonderful friends and local folks in my world. Including when Hamilton The Musical debuted its Live Stream on Disney Plus on MY BIRTHDAY (= July 3rd each year ;) and Yahoo Life featured yours truly (oui moi!) in a special video making & sharing two Revolutionary Era recipes — including my signature Pepper Pot Stew and James Hemings’ Vanilla Ice Cream, but i digress…
Needless to say that pleasant surprise added even more exciting energy and buzz to a beautiful birthday vibe. Here are just a few highlights from those enjoyable edible gardening experiences:
