On Saturday May 24th 3:00 PM in Weeksville’s North Garden
Join me and the fab folks at the Weeksville Heritage Center (WHC) for an all-day Community Gardening festival and celebration of Spring! A day of family-friendly activities celebrating Black land ownership, food justice, and collective well-being reconnecting to nature and the bounty it can yield when we cooperate respectfully with Mother Nature…
Come out to their lovely grounds for some fresh air and practical fun including arts & crafts, cooking demos, seed give-aways, gardening activities and as always chances to see the historic Hunterfly Road Houses, and more!
Yours truly (me — TFG!) will talk about seasonality in the context of pickling and food preservation (past and present) connected to this historically Black Brooklyn community and beyond — complete with special quick pickle making demos! As a bonus you get to go home with your own jar of all natural organic pickles that you made yourself (with a lil’ help from me, TFG! ;)
Let’s see what’s in season (aka in abundance this time of year )and PICKLE it up so nothing goes to waste!….
